Different types of Non Profit Organizations in India

Non-governmental organizations, or NGOs, are non-governmental groups that have taken a stand for the welfare of the poor and the underprivileged sections of society. NGOs are operated by a group of people who are primarily concerned with human welfare and engage in social activity. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are non-profit organizations that are not affiliated with any government or created by a state.

They demonstrate devotion towards the advancement of society in several sectors. They are always engaged in activities that are totally not for profit and only benefit society.

However, there are different types of organizations that have different aims and goals. Let us have a look at some of the types:

Charitable oriented organization

The NGOs that fall under this category are largely engaged in campaigns that aim towards meeting the needs of the low-income sections. These NGO working for child education, food donation programs, providing treatment facilities, etc. We can also donate to such NGOs and support the good cause they are working for.

Participatory oriented organization

Participatory Orientation NGO is distinguished by self-help programmes in which local people are involved notably in project execution by contributing funds, tools, land, materials, labour, and so on. Participation in a traditional community development project begins with defining the need and continues into the planning and execution stages.

Empowering orientation


The goal of Empowering Orientation is to assist impoverished section of society to get a better grasp of the social, political, and economic forces impacting their lives, as well as to increase their awareness of their own potential ability to govern their life. Sometimes these groups form spontaneously in response to a problem or issue, while other times outside workers from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have a role in their formation.

These were some of the different types of NGOs that are working each day for the betterment of society and bridging the gap between underprivileged people and the rights that they have been denied due to their stature.
